Hancock Shaker Stand Classic Shaker Style. This small table, or more properly called a 'Stand' exhibits the simplicity and functionally the Shakers are renowned for. Even now, it's timeless style allows it to fit in with any decor, early or modern. The style originiated at the Hancock Shaker Village c.1830. near Pittsfield, MA. It's 24" height puts the top at a level with most chair arms and is perfect between a pair of wing back chairs. The body and top of the stand is painted with a very durable paint made of milk, lime, and earth colors. The legs are attached with sliding dovetail joinery and reinforced with a metal plate, just like the originials. The metal plate or 'spider' is fastened in place with hand made nails.
